An Enrollment ID can still be used if you don’t have an Aadhaar card or don’t remember your Aadhaar number. Aadhaar cardholders can download their cards using the UMANG portal by following these steps:
e-Aadhaar Card Password
It is necessary to have your Aadhaar password when you open a PDF file of your Aadhaar e-card, which is password protected by an 8-character combination.
Note: When you open the Aadhaar PDF, your password is always your first four initials in uppercase, followed by your birth year.
- The Aadhaar PDF password guidelines were changed in early 2019. Previously, the registered address’s PIN code was the password to open the e-PDF.
- It was later introduced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to use the present format, which consists of the first four letters of your name (in capital letters) and your year of birth (in YYYY format).
- While no specific date was announced, the shift became widely noticed around 2019 due to its enhancement of security and standardization.
- By updating the password system, users can personalize it and make it more secure.
What is an AADHAAR Card?
UIDAI issued the first Aadhaar card in January 2009, containing a unique 12-digit number confirming the holder’s identity as a citizen of India. By the end of 2024, more than 1.38 billion Aadhaar numbers have been issued.
