It is currently not possible to update your name on your Aadhaar card online. Here is how to do it:

  • Step 1: You can download the Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Form from UIDAI’s official website. 
  • Step 2: Go to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrolment center near you to enroll in Aadhaar.
  • Step 3: Complete the form and provide it to the executive.
  • Step 4: You will need to present the original Proof of Identity document to company executives. They will xerox it and return it to you.
  • Step 5: To update your Aadhaar name, submit a fee of Rs. 50.

A confirmation slip containing an updated URN (Update Request Number) will be sent to you. You can use this URN to check the status of your UIDAI Aadhaar update.

The Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre won’t be able to change your name without valid identity proof. Be sure to carry at least one original proof of identity document, such as a passport, driving license, voter ID, ration card, etc. 

Upon submitting your Aadhaar update application, a URN will be generated. You can follow the instructions below to monitor the progress of your request:

If you wish to download an updated Aadhaar card, you must have your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar before you can access it online. The updated Aadhaar card can be downloaded from UIDAI’s website once it is ready. The following are the steps to download an Aadhaar after you change your name.
